Cover Art Series - Where the Crawfish Sing

Cover Art Series - Where the Crawfish Sing
I got the wonderful opportunity to work with Aviary Bridge for their upcoming album release consisting of two singles and one album. The goal was to create an animated artwork where every piece is connected but can also stand for itself. We also wanted to tell a story about the journey of a crawfish who became human and got reunited with his family throughout the whole animated music video.
To generate and illustrate this idea I made a few sketches about different scenes. We decided to work with a jungle vibe and a forest.
I always start my sketches very rough on paper to get a feeling for the whole environment and elements or things I want to add.
Then I continued and made rough illustrations in illustrator to build a basic scene which I can work with. I used this illustration as a background sketch and started illustrating more detailed elements which I then added to the whole composition.
I wanted to use a very natural color palette with the main focus on greens but also some very bright and colorful accent colors which I used throughout the whole artwork/project.
Feelings for Artwork #1: surprise, into the unknown, cozy home
Feelings for Artwork #2: anxiety, loneliness, everyone is watching me, beauty
Feelings for Artwork #3: reunion, excitement but also something dangerous
Once we had the final Illustrations, we decided to use the Font Moalang which is free for commercial use (https://befonts.com/moalang-font.html) and stylized it.
To release the Album Tobias Peil animated the whole composition, added the text for the story to it and gave it a very special vibe in general.
